The World According to Poetry #20

Desperate drought
Tired, parched land
Somehow
Nature has still managed
And extravagant feast for our eyes
With her meager rations
Spectacular purple blossoms
Illuminate the sky
And drift to earth
I want to lay down naked
On the carpet of scattered purple blooms
And whisper my gratitude
For her lavish generosity
To her ruthless, selfish children
